from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Age of Empires: Castle Siege (AoE: CS) is a computer game from the Age-of-Empires series . The game was launched on August 25, 2014 and has been available since September 18 through the Windows Store for Windows Phone 8 , Windows RT , Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 . After the game had been available in the Canadian Apple App Store for several months , Microsoft finally released the strategy game worldwide for iOS on July 16, 2015 .

Gameplay

Age of Empires: Castle Siege is a pure online game and combines the game principles of tower defense with those of real-time strategy . On the one hand, the player builds his own castle. To this end, the defenses with towers, walls and traps are being expanded and troops are being trained. On the other hand, the player can attack the castles of other players. Here, too, your own troops, heroes and siege devices can be further developed and thus made more efficient.

The game is timed from the early Middle Ages to the early modern era. In the foreground of the game are six civilizations (Kievan Rus, Britannians, Byzantines, Franks, Saracens, Teutonic Order), which are characterized by different weaknesses and strengths. The player chooses one of the six civilizations and receives a keep (castle), which he can further develop in several stages (currently 10). The further developments are linked - each in text form - with historical information on the respective civilization. Infantry, cavalry and technical siege units are available to the player to defend and attack foreign keepers, which can also be further developed and expanded. Each civilization has a special unit with special, historically based skills, for example particularly efficient archers for the Britons or particularly armored infantry for the Teutonic Order. In addition, every civilization has a so-called hero with very special skills for attack and defense. The heroes and their skills are based on historical personalities. With the Franks, for example, the heroine Johanna von Orleans is able to convince opposing troops to overflow.

An attack on opposing castles takes place online and within six minutes. The player attacks a randomly generated opponent with his troops, which have previously been individually assembled, and controls his troops with mouse or touch gestures. The opponent is defeated if either the castle or 50% of the defender's buildings have been destroyed within six minutes. Additional crowns are awarded if both the castle and the building have been destroyed. Even more crowns will be awarded to those who have destroyed 100% of the opposing buildings (including the castle).

reception

The game has also been available for Android since the end of 2016.
