Unit 4b
The aggregate 4b was a winged version of the aggregate 4 (also known as the V2). In 1943 the continuation of the project work on the A9 / A10 was forbidden because at that time all efforts were directed towards the perfection and production of the unit 4. However, Wernher von Braun was able to bypass the ban by choosing the code name Aggregat 4b for A9 and thus creating a connection to Aggregate 4. This enabled the project work to be continued and some test starts. A total of three test starts were carried out on December 27, 1944, January 8, 1945 and January 24, 1945 in the HVA Peenemünde . The first attempts to start were false starts, the last start succeeded; but the rocket did not reach the planned range due to a broken wing, so the program was discontinued.
