Agilfried
Agilfried (also: Agelfredus, Egelfredus, Agilfrid) (* beginning of the 8th century; † 787 ) was Bishop of Liège .
He was a Franconian of noble origin and became a monk of Elno, abbot of St. Bavo in Ghent and in 765 bishop of the Tongrian diocese, which was moved from Maastricht to Liège in 714. He was very respected at Charlemagne's court and received many privileges for his monastery from the king . According to the yearbooks of Kl. Lobbes, his hat was handed over to the defeated Longobard king Desiderius with his wife Ansa. He also seems to have been involved in the conversion of Saxony, namely in the districts of Osnabrück, and according to not unbelievable tradition, he founded a church in the place mentioned.
