Agit Prop

Agit Prop is the name of a Finnish political music group. The members of the band, which was founded in the early 1970s, come from the environment of the Communist Party of Finland (SKP).

In addition to Pekka Aarnio and Sinikka Sokka, the founding members also included the brothers Tapani, Martti and Mika Launis . Other members over the years were Anu Saari, Kiti Neuvonen and Liisa Tavi. The name Agit Prop comes from the Russian made-up word Agitprop , which is composed of the words agitation and propaganda .

In February 1971 the group took part in the 2nd Festival of Political Song in the GDR. The group was also among the participants at the 1973 World Festival and the 1980 Festival.

Agit Prop, who belonged to the Love Records label , released the album Agit-propin kvartetti laulaa työvänenlauluja in 1972 and the album Laulu kaikille in 1977 . In 1995 the compilation Agit Prop 1970-1977 appeared with 25 titles.

After 2000 the group started a comeback and performed at Provinssirock in Seinäjoki .
