Agnes Pirscher , née Agnes Traut ( August 2, 1811 in Mainz - May 17, 1861 in Darmstadt ) was a German opera singer (soprano).

Life

Her adoptive father was a musician in the theater orchestra . He recognized the child's talent early on and was used early in the theater choir, soon also for solo parts. Kapellmeister Louis Spohr heard her sing and engaged her in 1829 as the first singer at the court theater in Kassel, where she made her debut as "Emmeline" in Die Schweizer Familie .

In 1830 she went to Leipzig with her husband Ferdinand Pirscher, and in 1832 to Berlin. In 1833 she took part in a guest performance at a German opera in London as the first singer. She was sensationally successful as "Agathe" in Freischütz and as "Leonore" in Fidelio . When she returned from London, she was offered a five-year contract in Mannheim. From there she repeatedly went on guest tours. On September 22, 1831 she was involved in the world premiere of the opera Abu-Kara by Heinrich Dorn .

In 1838 she moved to Darmstadt, where she stayed until the end of her career in 1861. After that she withdrew as much as possible and only appeared occasionally and as a guest in front of the Darmstadt audience, which she greatly admired.

Stalker, until then always in excellent health, suddenly began to be ill and passed away on May 17, 1861 after several months of suffering.

Her most important artistic achievements included “Norma”, “Marie” ( daughter of the regiment ), “Agathe” and “Fidelio”.
