The Agrarian Party of Russia ( russ . Аграрная Партия России ( АПР ), agricultural Well Partija Rossii, АПР, dt. Abbreviation APR) was a left-wing political party in Russia . Political orientation

The party claims for itself that it represents the interests of the rural population of the Russian Federation (motto of the basic program: "The farmers have their own protector"). In contrast to rural parties in other countries, the Agrarian Party is traditionally close to the Communist Party of Russia ( KPRF ).

History of the party

The party was founded by the governor of the Altai Republic, Mikhail Lapschin and the governor of the Tula region, a former member of the State Committee for a State of Emergency of the USSR Vasily Starodubzew . In the 1993 Duma elections, 7.4% straight away. In 1995 their share of the vote fell by half and has leveled off ever since. In the Duma elections in 2003 , with a nationwide 3.6% share of the vote, she missed the 5 percent hurdle to move into parliamentary group status and achieved only 3 direct mandates.

In the 2004 Russian presidential elections , presidential candidates were given no chance against incumbent Putin . The Communist Party nominated Duma deputy Nikolai Kharitonov from the Agrarian Party with the aim of uniting the Russian rural population and preventing voters from migrating to the Rodina party . Kharitonov became Putin's most successful opponent with 13.74% of the vote. In the parliamentary election in 2007 the Agrarian Party also took part, but missed clear the 7-percent threshold for entry into parliament.

On September 12, 2008, the party leadership announced its association with the United Russia party , which was confirmed at the United Russia Congress on November 20. The Agrarian Party's official dissolution took place on January 21, 2009, when unification with United Russia was registered by the Ministry of Justice.

In 2012, the party was officially re-established and registered, chaired by the executive director of the agricultural association Olga Bachmachnikova. The party is a member of the All-Russian National Front alliance .
