Nikolai Mikhailovich Kharitonov

Nikolai Mikhailovich Kharitonov ( Russian Николай Михайлович Харитонов * 30th October 1948 in the village Resino, Province Ust-Tarkski , Novosibirsk Oblast , Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic , USSR ) is a Russian politician, member of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and since 1993 deputy State Duma .

biography

Kharitonov graduated from the Novosibirsk State Agricultural University . From 1972 to 1994 he worked as an agronomist and then as the director of a large agricultural company in Novosibirsk Oblast.

In 1990, Kharitonov was elected to the RSFS Duma as a people's member of the “Agrarian Union” faction. He was one of the founders of the Agrarian Party of Russia in 1993.

In 1995, Kharitonov graduated from the Russian Academy of Economics and Public Service under the President of the Russian Federation . In the 1996 presidential election he supported Gennady Zyuganov's candidacy .

In December 1999, Kharitonov entered the Duma of the third convocation as a Communist Party deputy. Four years later he repeated this success.

In the 2004 presidential election , Kharitonov was the top candidate of the Communist Party in the election race. He got more than 14 percent of the vote and took second place behind Vladimir Putin .

In 2007, Kharitonov left the Agrarian Party in protest because it allegedly had collaborated closely with the ruling United Russia party . In November 2008 he joined the Communist Party and was a member of the Presidium of the Central Committee.

In 2011 he was elected as a deputy of the State Duma of the sixth convocation and became head of the Committee on Regional Policy of the federal districts Northwest Russia and the Far East . In 2016 he made it to the lower house of the Federation Assembly again and represents the Krasnodar region here .

Private

Kharitonov is married and has four children.
