Aguadulce is a small town on the Panamericana Road 197 km west of the capital Panama City of the Central American state Panama . Aguadulce is the largest city in the Coclé province . It has 17,237 inhabitants (2005). Their salt pans are important .

The exact founding time of the city, which is completely called San Juan Bautista de Aguadulce , is unknown; a settlement already existed in the 18th century, even if the official founding date is October 19, 1848 , when the provincial chamber of Panama - then a province of Colombia - granted the city its official privileges.

In addition to the salt production in the salt pans, sugar production has always been important, as there are numerous sugar cane plantations in the area . Accordingly, Aguadulce has a salt and sugar museum (founded in 1998). The nearby Valle de Antón is also worth seeing . As a popular tourist destination, Aguadulce has several hotels and a number of restaurants.

The population growth is 1.5% annually, in 1960 Aguadulce only had 6053 inhabitants.
