Coclé is a province in Panama and is located on the Gulf of Panama .

geography

The capital of Coclé is Penonomé on the Río Chiguirí . The province of Coclé is in turn divided into six districts ( distritos ) with a total of 39 municipalities ( corregimientos ):

  • Aguadulce
  • Antón
  • La Pintada
  • Natá
  • Olá
  • Penonomé

history

The archaeological site of El Caño is located in Coclé .

The 16th President of Panamá Harmodio Arias Madrid comes from the province.

economy

The main economic factors are animal husbandry and agriculture, especially the cultivation of rice and sugar cane. The region is mainly accessed by the Panamericana (David-Panamá), which runs parallel to the coast and from which access roads lead into the mountains to the north, for example to El Valle .
