Agudos do Sul , officially Portuguese Município de Agudos do Sul , is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Paraná and belongs to the metropolitan area of Curitiba .

Surname

The word "agudo" means "pointed" in Portuguese and indicates small, pointed bumps in the area around the town. "Do Sul" means "in the south" and serves to distinguish it from the municipality of Agudos in the state of São Paulo, which is located to the north .

history

The settlement of the place began in the 19th century. At that time the area belonged to the municipality of São José dos Pinhais . Only in 1961 did Agudos do Sul become an independent municipality. It consists of the two districts of Agudos do Sul and Colônia Padre Paulo .

Meanwhile (2010) Agudos do Sul has 8,270 inhabitants on 192,228 km².
