Aguinaldo Jaime

Aguinaldo Jaime (born January 15, 1956 in Luanda ) is an Angolan politician of the Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola (MPLA).

Life

Aguinaldo Jaime began his professional career after completing his studies in 1985 as Director of Planning, Studies and Statistics of the National Insurance Company and then between 1987 and 1990 was Director of the Foreign Investment Authority (Conselho de Investimento Estrangeiro) , which is responsible for the promotion and evaluation of foreign investments Investing in Angola is responsible. As the successor to Augusto Teixeira Jorge de Matos Agosto , he took over the post of finance minister in the government of President José Eduardo dos Santos in June 1990 , which he held until his replacement by Mário de Alcântara Monteiro in April 1992. He then moved from 1992 to 1995 as special assistant and chief of staff in the office of the President of the African Development Bank (ADB), Babacar Ndiaye , in Abidjan . On his return, he was President of Banco Angolano de Investimento (BAI), Angola's first private bank, between 1995 and 1999 .

In 1999 Jaime became governor of the Angolan National Bank (Banco Nacional de Angola) and held this position until 2002. He was then Deputy Prime Minister between 2002 and 2007 and, as head of the government's economic group, was responsible for coordinating monetary, tax and earnings policy as well as public investment programs. He then served as President of the Agency for Private Investment (Agência Angolana para o Investimento Privado) between 2008 and 2010 , which is the successor organization to the Foreign Investment Authority, responsible for promoting private investments and assessing, approving and granting incentives for private investors. Since 2013 he has been President of the Agency for Regulation and Insurance Supervision (Agência Reguladora Angolana de Supervisão de Seguros) , which regulates and oversees the insurance, reinsurance and pension funds sectors. He taught at times as a professor of business administration, public finance and commercial law at the Catholic University of Angola , the Catholic University of Porto and the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro .

In June 2017, Aguinaldo Jaime was also elected Vice President of the African reinsurance company Africa Re (Africa Reinsurance Corporation) .
