Ahmad bin Hassan al-Asiri

Ahmad bin Hassan al-Asiri ( Arabic أحمد بن حسن محمد عسيري, DMG Aḥmad b. Ḥasan Muḥammad ʿAsīrī ) is a Saudi major general and former deputy director of the Saudi intelligence service al-Muchabarat al-'Amma .

Al-Asiri was the spokesman for Operation Decisive Storm and Operation Restoring Hope as part of the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen until July 27, 2017 (see military intervention in Yemen since 2015 ). His successor is Turki Al-Malki .

In April 2017, the general was appointed vice director of the Saudi intelligence service. During his tenure, he is said to have set up a secret unit, commonly known in the media as the "Tiger Team", to carry out covert special operations. The deputy director was dismissed on October 19, 2018 in connection with the death of Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul .
