Ahmet Zeki (Soydemir)

Ahmet Zeki Soydemir (* 1883 in Selânik Ottoman Empire, † September 4, 1954 in Istanbul ) was an Ottoman and Turkish military.

In 1905 he graduated from the war school and in 1908 the war academy. Soydemir commanded the 6th Division as Yarbay ( lieutenant colonel ) in the battle of Sakarya . In the decisive battle of Dumlupınar he was in command of the 2nd Infantry Division. He was promoted to Albay ( Colonel ). After the Turkish Liberation War in 1924 Soydemir was appointed General Commander of the Jandarma . In 1927 he was promoted to Tümgeneral (major general).

Between 1935 and 1946 and between 1946 and 1950 Soydemir was a member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey from Çankırı Province .

In 1988 his remains were transferred to the Ankara State Cemetery.
