Ai Hashimoto ( Japanese 橋本 愛 , Hashimoto Ai ; born January 12, 1996 in Kumamoto Prefecture ) is a Japanese model and actress .

Career

Her mother registered the then twelve-year-old Ai Hashimoto in 2008 for the HuAHuA Audition of the entertainment company Newcome Inc. , where she won the Grand Prix and was signed by Sony Music Artists (SMA). In 2009 she became the Miss Seventeen magazine Seventeen elected and beat off competitors by 5267.

She made her acting debut in the low-budget film Give and Go (2009), in which she plays a girl who is hard of hearing and who loves basketball. In 2010 she played the role of Mizuki Kitahara in the psychological thriller Confessions , which made it into the final nine for the 2011 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film as a Japanese contribution . In 2012, she starred in the horror film Sadako 3D .
