Aimé Vaschy (* 1857 in Thônes ; † November 25, 1899 in Tournon-sur-Rhône ) was a French mathematical physicist .

As a young telegraph engineer, he was a lecturer at the École supérieure de télégraphie .

For piezoelectricity He theorized that the electric effect is proportional to the temperature change of the crystal.

In an article from 1887 on clear telephone circuits , he discovered an error , independently of Oliver Heaviside , and came to the conclusion that the inductance of the lines must be increased and published this in June 1887. Lazare Weiller had heard his lecture and received it on December 20, 1888 the French Patent 194,060 on its coated wire .

In his work Traité d'électricité et de magnétisme from 1890 he also presented a theorem of Léon Charles Thévenins from 1883.

He proved that the Thévenin theorem is equivalent to the Norton theorem .

He also established a proof for Buckingham's Π-theorem ( Vaschy-Buckingham theorem )
