Aimar de Maugiron († April 28, 1564 in Paris ) was Bishop of Glandèves from 1547/1554 to 1564 .

Life

Aimar (or Aymar) de Maugiron was the third son of Guy de Maugiron , Lieutenant General of the Dauphiné ; his mother was Ozanne de l'Hermite. The Mignon Louis de Maugiron was his nephew. Aimar entered the service of the church, replaced Pierre Palmier, who was promoted to archbishop, as dean of the chapter of Vienne (Isère) in 1527/28 , and in 1547 became abbot of Montmajour-lés-Arles . In 1554 he is named as Bishop of Glandéves; When exactly he came to this office is not known, Fisquet states 1547. On a document of the Chapter of St. Maurice (Cathedral of Vienne) from September 25, 1554 he appears with the titles abbot and bishop. On January 5, 1557, he appeared at the meeting of the Princes of the Kingdom in the Great Hall of the Parliament of Paris. He died in this city on April 28, 1564.

The diocese of Glandèves remained vacant for a long time after Maugiron's death; it was not reoccupied until 1572 with Hugolin Martelli .
