Air2mp3

Air2mp3 is a server and radio-based shareware program made available by air2mp3 GmbH. The air2mp3 GmbH is a joint venture between freenet AG and RapidSolution Software AG.

Data Becker has released an extended version with a subscription limited to 3,000 titles. At the end of 2005, Freenet also released its own music recorder based on air2mp3.

Analog and digital TV cards are supported. However, video recording only works with analog TV cards.

functionality

Air2mp3 acting on the basis of a fixed program schedule , which results from the Internet can be downloaded, the audio and video streams of music programs and cuts then out with the help of so-called Cutlist, the songs and stores it either as MP3 - or Ogg Vorbis - Files on the hard drive. The mp3 codec needs as Lame or - Blade will be available codec and additionally integrated into the program. The tracks created from the stream contain the name of the song as well as the album title and, if available, cover images, tour dates, CD purchase links and lyrics. From version 2.0 it is possible to record videos.

Cutting lists

Until the beginning of 2007, air2mp3 itself delivered track information. After this service has been discontinued, there is still the option of obtaining user cutting lists. The user can enter these cutting lists himself and the planning is sent to all air2mp3 clients.

The history

air2mp3 was created in September 2001 after r@dio.mp3 ceased broadcasting. In 2002 air2mp3 appeared as a supplement to many computer magazines, which contributed to the wider distribution and significantly increased the number of users. In February 2004, 100,000 members were registered. From May 6, 2004, air2mp3 will also be offering radio cutlists. In 2005 a paid service started offering ready-made cutting lists and was discontinued in early 2007. The use of the account has been free again since then.

Since air2mp3 emerged from a freeware project , the program has built up a large community in its history , in which users are offered help and tools.
