Air Traffic is a British band from Bournemouth .
Band history
The group formed in 2005 and rehearsed in an abandoned aircraft hangar near Bournemouth Airport . Since the signals from Air Traffic Control could be heard through the band's amplifier , they chose Air Traffic as the band name. In July 2006, the quartet released the first single on the independent label Fandango . The edition was 500 pieces. Shortly afterwards, British producer David Kosten became aware of Air Traffic and signed them for his EMI label Tiny Consumer . In March 2007, the band achieved first place in the UK sales charts with the re-release of their debut single Charlotte . A little later, the first album, Fractured Life , was released, which, along with the other singles Shooting Star and No More Running Away, hit the charts. Because of the piano-heavy sound, which is atypical for Britpop, Air Traffic is compared to Muse .
