The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA, fully: International Council of Aircraft Owner and Pilot Associations ), founded in 1939, is represented in over 68 countries and, with more than 470,000 members, is the largest pilots association in the world with its headquarters in Frederick , Maryland .

In it are pilots and aircraft owners of general aviation organized. All AOPA country representatives belong to the international umbrella organization IAOPA .

The country representative for Germany is AOPA-Germany .

The AOPA-Switzerland association was founded in July 1964.

The association AOPA Austria - Aircraft Holders and Pilots Association Austria was founded on February 9, 1963 by Julius Meinl IV.
