history
"Frederick Town" was established in 1745 by a group of German immigrants, the leader of which was the former school teacher Johann Thomas Schley from Mörzheim (today a district of Landau in the Palatinate in Rhineland-Palatinate ). He settled in the Maryland colony with his wife Maria Winz. This historical background is also the explanation why Frederick is related to a district of a Palatinate city with just over a thousand inhabitants.
In just three years, the city was proclaimed the administrative seat of Frederick County.
