The Airport Express ( Chinese  機場 快 綫  /  机场 快 线 , Pinyin Jīcháng Kuàixìan , Jyutping Gei 1 coeng 4 Faai 3 sin 3 ) is a line of the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) in Hong Kong . It runs from the Hong Kong station in the Central and Western district via West Kowloon and the southwest New Territories to Hong Kong International Airport and the Asia World Expo near Lantau Island .

In contrast to the other MTR lines, the Airport Express, which opened in 1998, is not used for commuter traffic, but as a fast connection to the airport. For this reason, the fare is higher than usual.

The train mostly uses the Tung Chung Line , but has its own platforms or overtaking tracks in the stations passed without stopping. The travel time on the 35.3 kilometer route is 24 minutes. At the Hong Kong and Kowloon stations it is possible to check in luggage and check-in for flights on the same day, while at the airport i. d. This is usually only possible 3 hours before departure.

The rolling stock was supplied by CAF together with Adtranz and installed in Spain. The trains of the Airport Express are more comfortably equipped with 2 + 2 seating than the standing space-optimized vehicles on the other MTR lines. There is a luggage rack next to each door. Screens show news and the departure times and check-in desks of flights for the next few hours. The position of the train is indicated by an LED strip.

In 2005, a short extension from the airport to the Asia World Expo exhibition center was opened.
