Airtours ( own spelling : airtours ) is a luxury travel brand owned by TUI Deutschland GmbH and is one of the leading luxury tour operators in Europe.

history

Airtours international GmbH & Co. KG was founded on October 9, 1967 in Frankfurt with an entry in the Bad Homburg vdH commercial register. In 1970 Touristik Union International GmbH ( TUI ) completely took over the shares of the founding shareholders. In 1993 airtours international became a GmbH. In 1994 Lufthansa acquired 50% of the company shares , but sold them back to TUI just one year later. Airtours has been a brand of TUI Deutschland GmbH, a subsidiary of the TUI Group, since 2006 . Since then, the company's headquarters have been in Hanover .

In the 1970s, airtours was the first tour operator to offer organized air travel with scheduled airlines to the Orient , Mauritius and the Seychelles .

For portfolio Airtours include about 2,000 luxury hotels , 32 ships and 60 itineraries worldwide. The brand is mainly sold in the German-speaking market by 4800 stationary travel agencies and online.
