Ajax Bay is a small settlement in the Falkland Islands . The place is in the west of East Falkland on the San Carlos Bay , a few kilometers west of Port San Carlos . As part of a development program of the Commonwealth Development Corporation , a plant for processing sheep meat was built in the place. However, the facility was barely used and eventually moved to Stanley .
As part of Operation Sutton , the site, code-named "Red Beach", was a landing point for the first British units during the Falklands War and was later used as a military hospital .
