Ak Orda Palace
The Ak Orda Presidential Palace ( Kazakh Ақ Орда, Russian Ак Орда ) is the official seat of the President of Kazakhstan . It is located in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan on the banks of the Ishim River , right at the eastern end of the Water Green Boulevard, where the Bayterek Tower , the city's landmark, is also located. After three years of construction, the building was officially presented on December 24, 2004 by Nursultan Nazarbayev .

The monumental government building was built using reinforced concrete . The facade made of Italian marble is largely determined by the large windows. The external marble cladding is between 20 and 40 centimeters thick. On the roof of the building is a large blue and gold dome on which a golden tip is attached. At the top of this tip is a golden sun with 32 sun rays; it also includes a steppe eagle , which is located below the sun with outspread wings. These two symbols can also be found on the Kazakh flag . The Kazakh national coat of arms can be seen on the fifth floor and a flagpole with the Kazakh flag is mounted on the roof .
The total height with the top is 80 meters. The Ak Orda Palace consists of five floors, of which the ground floor is ten meters high and the remaining four are only five meters high.
Inside the palace is the large foyer on the ground floor . It covers an area of 1,800 square meters with a granite floor . The first floor of the building includes a ballroom for official presidential events, a room for press conferences and a winter garden . The second floor is used entirely as office space. On the third floor there are several halls for various occasions. One of these halls is the marble hall. This is used to sign documents on official visits, for summit meetings between the president and foreign heads of state and government, or for the awarding of state awards. Another is the Golden Hall, which is used for private meetings between the Kazakh President and foreign guests. On the fourth floor there is the domed hall for meetings of summits of the President of Kazakhstan with representatives of the ministries and offices, parties, movements and intellectuals of the Republic of Kazakhstan. There is also the conference room and the meeting room as well as a library and other offices.
Trivia
- The name Ak Orda comes from the oriental name of the first state on what is now Kazakhstan's territory. It refers to the White Horde ( kas. Ақ Орда / Aq Orda ).
- The Ak Orda Palace is depicted on the 10,000 tenge banknote from the 2011/12 banknote series.
