The acantholysis describes the resolution of the cell assembly of the keratinocytes (keratinizing cells in the spinous layer of the epidermis) to split or blistering and withdraw individual "akantholytischer" keratinocytes.
It occurs in pemphigus vulgaris , Darier's disease , transient acantholytic dermatosis ( Grover's disease ), pemphigus chronicus benignus familiaris (Hailey-Hailey 's disease ) and Galli-Galli's disease (which some authors consider to be an acantholytic variant of Dowling's disease -Degos is considered). It can also arise from cell death in viral (e.g. herpes simplex ) or bacterial infections (e.g. impetigo ), in Lyell or Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome and in Stevens-Johnson syndrome , as well as in malignant degeneration (e.g. B. atspinocellular carcinoma ).
Acantholytic cells can be detected with the Tzanck test .
