Akebi Ike ( Japanese あ け び 池 'Akebiensee' ) is a small lake on the Prince Harald Coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is located in the northwestern part of the Langhovde .
Surveys and aerial photographs were taken by participants in a Japanese Antarctic expedition that ran from 1957 to 1962 . Japanese scientists named it descriptively in 1972 after the similarity of its shape with the fruit of an acebia .
