Akira Konno ( Japanese 今 野 章 , Konno Akira ; born September 12, 1974 in Iwate Prefecture ) is a former Japanese football player .

Career

Konno learned to play football on the school team of Ofunato High School and the university team of Kokushikan University . He signed his first contract in 1997 with the Júbilo Iwata . The club played in the highest league in the country, the J1 League . With the club he became Japanese champions in 1997 and 1999 . In 1998 he won the J.League Cup with the club . For the club, he completed five first division games. In 2000 he moved to league rivals Kawasaki Frontale . In 2001 he reached the final of the J.League Cup. At the end of the 2000 season, the club was relegated to the J2 League . In 2004 he was with the club master of the J2 League and rose again to the J1 League. In 2006 he was runner-up in the J1 League with the club. For the club he completed 158 games. At the end of 2006 he ended his career as a football player.
