Accommodation (stomach)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As accommodation 's ability is called stomach to adapt to different filling conditions.

Even food intake triggers a brief expansion of the stomach (vagovagal reflex) by stimulating mechanoreceptors in the esophagus and the resulting activation of the vagus nerve . The actual accommodation reflex of the stomach sets in with the arrival of the food pulp in the stomach. The reflex is mediated via stretch receptors in the stomach wall and local connections in the vegetative nervous system ( solar plexus ) with the involvement of the vagus nerve. This leads to a decrease in the wall tension ( tone ), which means that the internal pressure does not increase in adults up to a filling volume of 1.5 l.
