Akoma Ntoso
Akoma Ntoso ( A rchitecture for K nowledge- O riented M anagement of A frican N ormative T exts using O pen S tandards and O ntologies) is an XML - Standard for documents in the fields of parliamentary work , legislation ( legislative ) and case law ( judiciary ).
The term "Akoma Ntoso" also means "connected hearts" in the West African Akan languages . The standard is usually abbreviated to "XML AKN".
Akoma Ntoso was created as part of the UN project "Africa i-Parliament Action Plan". OASIS adopted Akoma Ntoso as the basis for the LegalDocML standard; the corresponding XML schema has "akomaNtoso" as its root.
According to OASIS, Akoma Ntoso aims to:
- Definition of a document format ;
- Definition of a model for document exchange;
- Definition of a data schema ;
- Definition of a metadata schema and an ontology ; and
- Definition of a model for citations and cross-references .
