The Akki - Aktion & Kultur mit Kinder eV association in Düsseldorf is a non-profit association recognized as an independent youth welfare organization . As a cultural educational institution, Akki eV specializes in the conception and implementation of cultural-educational projects , workshops and campaigns. The association was founded in 1985 by Christoph Honig and is based in the Kinderkulturhaus in Düsseldorf- Oberbilk , which opened in 2006.

Task and methodology

According to their own interests and motives, children and young people should deal with project content actively and independently in a playful way. Akki eV provides diverse, multidimensional and complex learning spaces for this, makes additional resources, spaces, times and materials available, provides competent people with support and creates opportunities for self-education. Competent specialists from all areas of art and culture support children in specially equipped workshops with the appropriate material to develop their own creative forms of expression. Akki eV sees itself as a mediator of artistic topics and cultural traditions as well as a promoter of children's creativity outside of school.

Clients and cooperation partners as well as sponsors include youth and cultural offices, various associations and clubs, schools, leisure and cultural institutions as well as companies and sponsors.

Children's town "Düsseldörfchen"

The children's play city "Düsseldörfchen - City of Children" is a participation project and has been organized since 1989 during the summer holidays on behalf of the youth welfare office of the city of Düsseldorf and as part of the "Düsselferien". 350 school-age children are building their own city and designing it as they see fit. Each “Düsseldörfchen” has a different focus (Middle Ages, future, culture or politics).
