The market of cultures is the flagship of the civil courage campaign

Aktion Civil Courage eV is a non-partisan, civil society organization in Saxony and is active in educational and advisory work as well as international encounters.

The association works to strengthen the democratic culture in Saxony . Since its inception, the association has built up a nationwide network of cooperation partners that makes a significant contribution to the effectiveness and sustainability of its work. The association works in partnership with many state and non-state institutions, organizations and private individuals.

The association is a signatory of the Transparent Civil Society Initiative .

history

The association was founded in 1999 as a youth initiative. The background to the merger was the high local election results of right-wing extremist parties in what was then the Saxon Switzerland district and an increasing propensity for violence, especially among young people. Above all, the Skinheads Saxon Switzerland (SSS) group, which was banned in 2001, gained national fame . A widespread approval of right-wing extremist positions, violence against non-right young people and foreigners as well as the resulting climate of fear among many people were the central triggers for the emergence of Aktion Zivilcourage e. V.

Projects

The association's educational and advisory services are aimed at people of all age groups. The association offers educational measures in the historical-political area, including workshops on the subject of human rights and moral courage, educational offers on memorial sites, lectures and readings on German history as well as intercultural encounters. The association has also published the Couragiert magazine since autumn 2013 .
