structure

The Action Alliance of Muslim Women is an association of Muslim women of different national origins and religious facets. The members include women with association experience and initiators of registered associations as well as women who have not previously worked in any other group. The majority of the more than 470 members live in North Rhine-Westphalia , which is also where the headquarters are located; However, the action alliance operates nationwide. The AmF is led by a seven-person executive board with dual leadership . In order to enable as many women as possible to become members, the AmF does not collect membership fees, but is financed exclusively from donations .

history

The action alliance was founded as a non-profit association in November 2009 from the dialogue forum for Muslim women that had existed since 2005.

The focus of the activities lies in the writing of statements, study and book analyzes, as well as in arranging speakers for scientific and journalistic issues. One of the thematic priorities is the equal access of Muslim women to the labor market. The participation of the then chairman of the board Tuba Isik in the German Islam Conference II (2010 to 2015) enabled the interests of Muslim women to be represented in the working group Living Gender Equality as a Common Value .

The AmF has organized several conferences on the empowerment of Muslim women and gender equality , most recently a conference on " Islamic Feminism " in cooperation with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in 2016. The latest activities consisted of working on the alternative report on the 7th and 8th CEDAW state report that appeared at the end of 2016 and the creation of election test stones for the 2017 federal election .

The AmF has been a member of the German Women's Council since 2010 and UN-Women Germany since 2012 .

aims

The action alliance is a representation of the interests of Muslim women on issues that are important for gender equality and integration policy , with a focus on socio-political issues. The AmF sees its main task in breaking up the monolithic image of “the Muslim woman” and replacing it with a realistic, more differentiated view. The point is to highlight the similarities between women in different situations and not to ignore differences in life plans. References to arguments are the current legal situation and sociological findings. Another aim of the AmF is to promote political education and internal networking among Muslim women.
