Al-Audscha ( Arabic العوجا, DMG al-ʿAwǧā ; English el-Awja ; seldom also written as al-Udscha or Al-Ouja ) is a village in Iraq .
Al-Audscha is about 13 kilometers east of Tikrit . The former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was born here in 1937 . It is also home to many heads of Iraqi provinces during his presidency.
According to Islamic tradition, Saddam Hussein was buried on December 31, 2006, within 24 hours of his death , before dusk, near the grave of his sons Udai and Qusai in al-Audscha.
