al-Bayan ( Arabic : البيان; DMG : al-Bayān ; German : "the announcement") was an Arabic-language magazine. It appeared from March 1, 1897 to August 16, 1898 once or twice a month in one year. It was published by Ibrahīm al-Yāziǧī (1847-1906) and Bišāra Zalzal (1851-1905) in Cairo and was the successor to the medical journal aṭ-Ṭabīb (1874-1885). Al-Yāziǧī , a Lebanese linguist and journalist, made a name for himself from 1898, especially as editor-in-chief of the magazine a Zeit-Ḍiyāʾ (1898–1906). In addition to scientific contributions, al-Bayān placed emphasis on cultural and anthropological topics as well as language and education. A well-known editor of the magazine was the Diwan poet Abbas el-Akkad .
