The Arabic magazine ad-Diya ( Arabic الضياء, DMG aḍ-Ḍiyāʾ ; German  "Die Enlightenment" ) was published twice a month in Cairo from 1898 to 1906 . There are eight years with 24 issues (1st to 3rd year) or 20 issues (4th to 8th year). Editor-in-chief was Ibrahīm al-Yāziǧī (1847-1906), a Lebanese linguist and journalist who published aḍ-Ḍiyāʾ at the request of his readers as the successor to his journal al-Bayān (1897-1898). In terms of content, the same goals are pursued as in al-Bayān (culture, language, education). The magazine's subtitle emphasizes this claim: "maǧallat ʿilmīya adabīya ṣaḥīya ṣanāʿīya" ("A scientific, literary, health, industrial magazine"). In addition to numerous scientific and literary topics, there are articles about the development of the newspaper landscape in Egypt at that time.

A complete and freely accessible online version of the journal can be found in the digital collections of the University and State Library of Bonn .
