Al-Chaur ( Arabic الخور, DMG al-Ḫawr ; often Al Khor ) is a coastal city in northern Qatar . It is located in the community of the same name al-Chaur and is the community capital . Al-Chaur is located 50 km north of the capital Doha . The population is 31,547 (as of 2008).
The city is home to many workers in the oil industry because of its proximity to the oil fields and natural gas reserves in northern Qatar and because of its proximity to Ras Laffan .
As part of the FIFA World Cup 2022 , World Cup games will be played in the stadium of the al-Khor Sports Club , the al-Khawr Stadium .
