The al-Khawr Stadium or al-Khor Stadium is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Qatari city of Khor . Mainly football matches and athletics competitions take place in the venue . It has a capacity of 16,000 spectators. The main user of the stadium is the football club al-Khor Sports Club , which plays its home games in the Qatar Stars League there . The stadium building was built in 1986. A renovation followed in 2006.

During the 2010/11 winter break, on January 8, 2011, the German Bundesliga club FC Bayern Munich played a preparatory game against al-Wakrah SC at al-Khawr Stadium.

The stadium is planned to be the venue for the 2022 World Cup . Until then, a new building for 45,120 places is planned, i.e. H. the old stadium will not be preserved. The new building should be reminiscent of a sea shell. Due to its favorable location on the Arabian Gulf , the spectators in the west stand should be able to look out over the seascape from their seats. There are also plans to introduce water taxis, which will make a transfer to the stadium possible. After all, the al-Khawr Stadium will only be a football site. When redesigning the sports facility, the stadium planners set themselves the goal of using environmentally friendly, innovative, CO 2 -neutral technology to keep the stadiums cool so that the temperature should not exceed 27 degrees Celsius. The draft was developed by the German company AS&P, Albert Speer & Partner GmbH. The planned investment budget for the new building is $ 251 million. Group and quarter-finals are to be played here for the World Cup.
