al-istibsar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

al-Istibsar ( Arabic الاستبصار Al-Istibsar  , Consideration ') is a Shia Hadith - collection belonging to the Four Books (al-Kutub al-arba'a ) and the most famous collections of traditions of Shia ranks. Thework, which contains 5511 traditions , comes from Mohammad Ibn Hassan Tusi (995-1068), who is known as Sheikh Tusi.

The work was intended as a shorter and more manageable collection of traditions than his Tahdhib al-Ahkam for practical life, as a starting point for beginners in religious studies. It is often viewed as a summary of the larger work. In contrast to this, the complete chain of narrators ( isnād ) of a hadith is always given.
