from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Al-Mogran Development Project is an urban development project with an investment volume of over 4 billion dollars under the direction of the Alsunut Development Company , which is to develop several square kilometers in the urban area of al-Mogran in the Sudanese capital Khartoum at the confluence of the White and Blue Nile .

The discovery and production of oil in Sudan has brought the Sudanese government a surplus of several billion dollars, which should allow the financing of this project.

Since 2004 the project has two main phases:

  • Phase 1: the central business area development
  • Phase 2: Development of the residential part.

When completed, the Al Mogran project will have 1 km² of office space and 1,100 country houses, and will provide housing for 45,000 residents and visitors and jobs for 60,000 Sudanese. However, the project has received criticism regarding the ongoing Darfur conflict . The project should be completed by 2014.
