The District of Le Mans Sud-Est was 2015 a French constituency in Arrondissement Le Mans , in the Sarthe and the region Pays de la Loire ; its main town was Le Mans . Christophe Counil ( PS ) was last representative in the General Council of the Département from 1998 to 2015 .

geography

The canton included the village of Pontlieue, which was incorporated into Le Mans in 1855, workers' settlements from the interwar period, older large settlements such as Ronceray-Glonnières (built after 1960) and more recent large settlements such as Vauguyon-les Sources. In addition, the Le Mans 24-hour race track is located in the south of the canton. The municipality of Ruaudin (southeast of the city of Le Mans), which belongs to the canton, was also located in this largely natural part of the canton. The canton was in the center of the Sarthe department. It bordered the canton of Le Mans-Est-Campagne to the northeast and the east, the canton of Écommoy to the south and the canton of Le Mans-Sud-Ouest to the west.

The canton consisted of some southern quarters of the city of Le Mans (the total population of the city is stated here, around 20,300 inhabitants lived in the canton on 11.47 square kilometers) and the municipality of Ruaudin.

The canton of Le Mans-Sud-Est was created when the cantons in the Le Mans region were reorganized in 1982.
