The District of Le Mans Sud-Ouest was 2015 a French constituency in Arrondissement Le Mans , in the Sarthe and the region Pays de la Loire ; its main town was Le Mans . André Langevin ( PS ) was the last representative in the General Council of the Département from 1994 to 2015 .
geography
The canton was on average 50 m above sea level, between 38 m in Arnage and 134 m in Le Mans. The canton comprised large industrial areas in which, in addition to smaller companies, there was an aircraft factory and the ACI (formerly Renault) car factory. The majority of the canton's residents also live there. A third of the population lived in the village of Arnage. The canton was in the center of the Sarthe department. It bordered in the north on the cantons of Le Mans-Ouest and Le Mans-Ville-Est, in the east on the canton Le Mans-Sud-Est, in the south on the canton Écommoy, in the southwest on the canton La Suze-sur-Sarthe and in the west to the canton of Allonnes.

The canton consisted of some southwestern quarters of the city of Le Mans (the total population of the city is given here, around 9,500 inhabitants lived in 7.49 square kilometers in the canton) and the municipality of Arnage, southwest of the city of Le Mans.

The canton of Le Mans-Sud-Ouest was created when the cantons in the Le Mans region were reorganized in 1967.
