The canton of Fresnay-sur-Sarthe was until 2015 a French constituency in the arrondissement of Mamers , in the department of Sarthe and in the region of Pays de la Loire ; its administrative seat is Fresnay-sur-Sarthe . Fabienne Labrette-Ménager ( UMP ) was the last representative in the General Council of the Département from 2001 to 2015 . By decree n ° 2014-234 of February 24, 2014, the cantons of Fresnay-sur-Sarthe and Sillé-le-Guillaume are merged.

The canton was in the extreme northwest of the Sarthe department on the border with the Mayenne department. It bordered this department to the west and north, the canton of Saint-Paterne to the northeast, the canton of Beaumont-sur-Sarthe to the east and south and the canton of Sillé-le-Guillaume to the south.
