al-Mustazhir bi-'llah
Abu l-Abbas Ahmad al-Mustazhir bi-llah , Arabic أبو العباس أحمد المستظهر بالله, DMG Abu l-Abbas Ahmad al-Mustaẓhir bi-llāh (* 1078 , † 6. August 1118 ), was from 1094 to 1118 the 28th Caliph of the Abbasid .
Like his predecessors, al -Mustazhir had been under the rule of the Seljuks since al-Qaim and was politically powerless. It was only under his son and successor al-Mustarshid (1118–1135) that, with the fall of the Seljuq empire , there were opportunities to renew the power of the Abbasids.
