Al Hamra Village

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Al Hamra Village Coordinates: 25 ° 42 ′  N , 55 ° 47 ′  E (German, for example: the Red Village) is the second largest construction project in the Arab emirate of Ra’s al-Khaimah . The project is being implemented by the state-owned company Al Hamra Real Estate .

Overview

The name is derived from the nearby settlement of Al Hamra . This probably got its name because of the red sand dunes in the region; al hamra means red in Arabic. With a total area of around 5 km², the settlement is almost twice as large as the land area of the Al Marjan archipelago, for example . The location is outside of Ra's al-Khaimah city between the settlement of Al Hamra and the Bin Majid Beach Resort on the former Red Island in the region of Al Jazeera (German: the island). The construction project, like the mixed area Mina Al Arab , is located on a former lagoon area with a natural island, which was raised over a large area for the realization of the project and is crossed by canals that are now navigable.

The settlement includes several facilities open to the public, such as the 18-hole golf course of the Al Hamra golf clubs or the shopping center Al Hamra Mall . The artificial lagoon also has the first marina in Ra's al-Khaimah. In order to open up the possibility of permanent resident in the emirate, especially for European interested parties, numerous villas and apartment buildings are being built. In addition to the Al Hamra Fort Hotel & Beach Resort , which opened in 1999, another hotel is currently under construction in Al Hamra Village, the Al Hamra Palace Hotel , which, with a height of 116 meters and 22 floors, is one of the tallest buildings in the emirate. Both hotels are built in the Arabic style and fit into the overall concept of the complex, as all other buildings were also built in Arabic style , for example with the characteristic wind towers .

development

The start of construction activities to promote tourism in Ras al-Khaimah can be traced back to the appointment in 2003 of Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi as deputy ruler of the emirate, who aims to provide tourism and industry with the To change the Emirates economy. Work on the project began at the end of April 2004. At the same time, the marketing and sale of the residential units began in the first phase; this comprises 200 villas and 320 apartments. In September 2004 the second phase of the project followed, which included 200 villas, 180 apartments and 50 semi-detached houses. At that time 3/4 of the first phase had been sold. In February 2007, the third phase was also released for sale with 14 multi-family houses accommodating a total of 3900 apartments, as well as 700 further villas and 1000 additional apartments. The fourth and fifth phases of the project will be delayed and probably downgraded in volume; this became known in May 2009.
