The Alabama State Route 19 (abbreviated AL 19 ) is a state highway in the US state of Alabama , which runs north-south direction.

The State Route begins on Alabama State Route 17 near Detroit and ends in Red Bay on Alabama State Route 24 .

history

In 1944, the AL 19 was opened between Hamilton and Millport . This line was replaced by the AL 17 nine years later. In 1957 the road between Red Bay and Weston was re-designated as number 19. The State Route got its current route in 1968 with the expansion from Weston to Detroit.
