The State Route begins on Alabama State Route 77 in Talladega and ends south of Pell City on US Highway 231 . The AL 34 is a two-lane highway in eastern Alabama. Except at the ends, it does not meet any other state routes or US highways. The road serves, among other things, as a transport link between the Talladega Superspeedway and St. Clair County.
history
The State Route originally ran from Florence to the Tennessee border between 1940 and 1956 . This stretch then became Alabama State Route 17 . Following a change in the course of Alabama State Route 48 , the current section was assigned the number 34.
