Alan Nimmo is a British blues rock guitarist and singer-songwriter .

biography

Alan Nimmo and his six-year-old brother Stevie grew up in Glasgow . Her mother was a blues and rock fan, her father was a singer in local bands. As children, they listened to musicians and bands such as Peter Green , Free , Bad Company , Rod Stewart , Steve Marriott and Thin Lizzy , whom they count among their role models. Alan started playing guitar when he was about 12 years old.

The brothers initially played in various bands, including a group called the Blackwater Blues Band, before deciding in 1995 to perform as The Nimmo Brothers . Alan Nimmo has had his own band with King King since 2009 , while the Nimmo Brothers continue to perform together.

Awards

From 2012 to 2014 King King won a British Blues Award as a "Blues Band" and was then inducted into the British Blues Awards Hall of Fame. King King also won British Blues Awards for the albums Take My Hand (2012), Standing in the Shadows (2014) and Reaching for the Light (2016), for the song Rush Hour (2016) and as "Songwriter of the Year" (2016). In 2014, 2015 and 2016 Alan Nimmo received an award in the “Male Vocals” category. In 2015 and 2016 the Nimmo Brothers were honored as a "Blues Band".

In 2018 King King also received several awards at the newly created UK Blues Awards : in the category “Blues Band of the Year” and for the album Exile & Grace from 2017; Alan Nimmo also won the "Blues Songwriter of the Year" category.
