Alan Quinlan (born July 13, 1974 in Tipperary , Ireland ) is a former Irish rugby union player who played in the positions of winger and number eight . He was active for the Munster region and the Irish national team .

Quinlan went through the youth national teams of Ireland before he was used for the first time for the men's selection of the country at the 1999 World Cup . At the next World Cup, a series of injuries began that repeatedly incapacitated him in the following years. In 2006 he won the Heineken Cup with Munster for the first time , which he succeeded again in 2008. He was nominated for the British and Irish Lions Tour to South Africa in 2009. However, due to unsportsmanlike conduct in the Heineken Cup semi-final against Leinster , he was banned for twelve weeks and was unable to take part in the tour. At the end of the 2010/11 season, Quinlan resigned.
