The Alaukst-See (Latvian: Alauksts) is an approx. 7.7 km² large lake in Latvia . It is located in the district Vecpiebalga on the road from Cesis to Madona .
The lake has an oval shape with several bays. The two islands are the Big Island with 0.8 hectares and the Small Island with 0.76 hectares. The Alauksts is the source lake of the Gaujiņa , which later becomes the Gauja , the largest river in Vidzeme . There is also a canal to the neighboring Tauna Lake that was created in the 19th century.
The lake and the surrounding area are under nature protection. There are 9 species of fish recorded there. Eutrophication is a danger .
