The district of Vecpiebalga (Vecpiebalgas novads) is located in the center of Latvia in the historical Vidzeme landscape .
geography
The Alauksts-See and Inese-See lie in the area of the district . The river Gauja has its source here. The rural area lies on the Livonian ridge. Here is the setting of the first Latvian novel Land surveyor times .
population
The district consists of the four municipalities (pagasts) Dzērbene, Ineši, Kaive, Taurene and the administrative center Vecpiebalga . 4781 inhabitants (2010) live in the entire Vecpiebalga district.
